Albert Lea, MN (KROC AM News) -  Two juveniles were taken to the hospital Friday after being hurt in a boat/jet ski accident in Albert Lea.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office says two females on the jet ski were thrown into the water after colliding with a boat. The two were taken to shore by a passerby and then transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Albert Lea for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The male driver of the boat told officers he had been idling and collided with the jet ski as he began picking up speed. The driver said he did not see the jet ski. The sheriff’s office says there was minor damage to the jet ski and moderate damage to the boat.

Sgt. Mitch Hagen says “all  involved in the crash are local, under the age of eighteen and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.” The accident happened around 7:30 PM on Fountain Lake.

It remains under investigation.
