All year we've heard an insane amount of Tool updates. First, bassist Justin Chancellor said new music was "in the oven", then Mårten Hagström of Meshuggah he actually heard the album, and it will be some of the best we've ever heard of Tool. However, according to Reddit, whatever was "heard" isn't at all going to be what we hear when the record does finally come out.

I learned a lot of insight about the band from the Q&A with Adam. There was 150 of us in a room with him and it felt very personable. He played for us, talked about he and Justin play off each other to create a 5/7 rhythm. Played a riff that'll be on the new album. Said they had enough music for two albums but only 5 meet their (tools) standard right now. Adam, Justin and Danny are in the studio 1PM-4PMish I think he said Tuesday-Thursday. Once 90% of the instrumentals are there Maynard comes into write (that's how Maynard likes to work).

If this is true, THAT MEANS THEY ONLY LIKE FIVE SONGS YOU GUYS!!! Yep, only five, and knowing Tool - they want more content than that for an album.

Before we get too excited here, let's think about how credible this might really be. Can we really trust that the guys were that open with this dude? Maybe, or maybe not. We don't know.

Side note: don't Danny and Maynard work a little more closely together than that? At least, that's what I've always heard.
