.Geneva, MN (KROC AM News) - A six-vehicle, chain reaction crash occurred Saturday morning on an icy stretch of Interstate 35 near Geneva Township, south of Owatonna in Steele County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the wreck began on southbound I-35 just before 9:30 a.m., when a semi rear-ended a Ford Expedition that had stopped due to backed-up traffic on the interstate. That began the chain reaction involving the rest of the vehicles.  

In all, eight people were involved, six hospitalized in Owatonna, one 29-year-old Minneapolis man was airlifted to St Mary’s in Rochester, all with non life-threatening injuries. Of those hurt, two are from Albert Lea, one from Iowa, and the rest from the Twin Cities area. One other Twin Cities individual was not injured.
