Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester School Board will hold its annual “Truth in Taxation” hearing this evening as it prepares to adopt the school district’s 2017 property tax levy.

Back in October, the School Board voted to certify the preliminary levy at at just under $54 million. That is the maximum allowed by the state and would be an increase of $4.4 million or 8.9-percent when compared to the school district’s current property tax levy. The board has the option of reducing the tax before it formally adopts the 2017 levy later this month.

Tonight’s meeting at the Edison Building begins at 6 p.m.
