Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The unemployment rate for Olmsted County last month was not the lowest in the region for a change, but it was the lowest it has been in nearly 2 years.

The latest jobs data from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate in the Rochester area dropped four-tenths of a point from August to 2.4-percent, which is the lowest rate for Olmsted County since November 2015 when the unemployment rate was only 2.2-percent. A year ago, the rate for Olmsted County was 2.8-percent.

Across the region, Mower County reported the lowest unemployment rate at 2.3-percent in September. The highest rate, regionwide, was found in Freeborn County at 3-percent. The jobless rates for every county in the region were lower last month. Dodge County reported the largest decline with its unemployment rate falling 8-tenths of a point to only 2.7-percent.
