A bunch of first responders in Southeast Minnesota are having a friendly competition with one another - and it's about to get bloody. Several Fire Department recruits from Rochester, Byron, and Stewartville are going up against the Rochester Police Station, Gold Cross, and the Olmsted County Sheriff's Department in the first-ever Battle of the Badges blood drive, going down this Wednesday, November 7th on the first floor of the Hilton Building. It starts at 1PM. There will be blood.

The RFD recruits are currently going through their 10-week academy, and will become probationary firefighters at the end of the month. It's a pretty cool idea to have them band together for a good cause. And if you're interested, you can help out too! Check in at the front desk at any one of the Mayo Blood Donor Program locations, pick a team you want to support, give some blood, and save a life. The winning team will score bragging rights and a trophy, so these are obviously very high stakes.
