Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man is being sought by Rochester police in connection to a violent assault that happened Monday morning on a street near the downtown.

Police Captain John Sherwin says a 53-year-old man who got into a dispute with a 40-year-old man was punched in the head and knocked to the ground. While still on the ground, the other man began stomping on the victim. The victim was treated for a broken ankle and facial injuries. Sherwin says the two men know each other.

The assault took place around 8:45 a.m. on 1st avenue northeast near the Salvation Army center.
