Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Police are investigating a pair of robberies that occurred over the weekend.

Captain John Sherwin says the first incident occurred around 1 in the morning on Saturday in the alley between 3rd and 4th Avenues southeast next to the Domino’s Pizza location. A 22-year-old Rochester man told police he had been out drinking in downtown Rochester when he met two men and agreed to accompany them to the alley, where he was punched in the stomach by one of the men and held from behind by the other man as he was robbed of his wallet containing a couple hundred dollars in cash.

Sherwin says he described his attackers as black and in their 20’s. One man was skinny, about 5 foot 9, and was wearing a gray shirt with a hood over head and jeans. The second suspect was described as stocky, around 5 foot 11, and wearing jean shorts and a gray colored Minnesota Twins hat with a black bill.

Captain Sherwin says the second robbery involved a 16-year-old boy who has had numerous previous contacts with police. He told officers he was walking in the 1700 block of 30th Street Northwest shortly after 1 am Sunday when he yelled at a person he knew driving by in a car. The teenager says the motorist stopped and punched him the face before stealing a Louis Vuitton purse and a new iPhone X. Sherwin says the victim told the officers investigating the incident the purse was worth about $16,000.
