Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Memorial Day weekend got off to a deadly start Friday evening in Rochester.

The State Patrol says a 40 year old Rochester man was driving a motorcycle on Highway 52 in the south side of the city when he struck a deer. The victim was taken to St. Mary’s where he died. The name of the man has not been released yet. He was not wearing a helmet.

The wreck happened around 7:15 p.m. near the Highway 63 interchange.
