Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man ended up at St Marys Hospital with a broken ankle he suffered while trying to get away from some people during a confrontation early Saturday.

The 26-year-old man told police he was at a party when he and another man got into an altercation. When the victim was leaving, the man he had a dispute with and some other men followed him outside. The victim took off running but he didn’t get far. When he jumped a fence, he broke his ankle and the other men began assaulting him. He says they also took the jewelry he was wearing, worth about $3,000. The incident happened around 2 a.m. Saturday at a residence in the 1300 block of 5th Ave NE.

Another Rochester man is reporting an attempted robbery over the weekend. The 59-year-old had walked into the restroom at Foster-Arend Park around 2 p.m. Sunday when a man came up from behind and demanded his money. The would-be victim turned around quickly and punched the other man in the face. He swung to hit the man a second time but missed and instead punched the wall, hurting his hand. The other man fled empty handed.
