Rochester, MN  KROC AM News) - A Rochester-area man who was recently arrested for allegedly severely beating a woman but never charged ended up in jail again after another reported domestic incident.

Olmsted County deputies arrested 39-year-old Patrick O’Connell Saturday night after a woman reported he had violated a no-contact order by sending her numerous messages.

Sheriff’s Dept. Captain Scott Behrns says the woman agreed to meet with O’Connell at a rural site near Simpson. The woman says O’Connell became upset and took her phone and other items and left. O’Connell was caught a short while later.

Court records show three pending domestic assault cases against O’Connell.

In the recent Rochester case,  police were told the woman had been beaten over a period of four hours and had bruises all over her body. Interim Police Chief John Sherwin described the incident as a classic domestic abuse case because the victim feared talking to officers about the beating. He said a relative of the victim was the one who contacted authorities to report the assault.
