Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man has resolved an animal neglect case.

Charges were filed last year against 43-year-old Patrick Blount after animal control officers were tipped off. They discovered an apparent breeding operation. According to the criminal complaint, the officers found five adult dogs and 11 puppies. The dogs were checked by a veterinarian who found all were suffering from “severe emaciation” and other signs of neglect, including “fecal soiling.”

Blount entered an Alford plea Monday, which means he maintains his innocence but admits there is enough evidence to lead to a conviction. He pleaded guilty to one count and was placed on probation for up to a year.

He was also ordered not to have a breeding operation and not to buy any new dogs.
