It set attendance records several times in 2018, and now it'll cost you more to head to the Minnesota State Fair this year.

The Great Minnesota Get-Together has been charging $11 for pre-fair admission tickets for the past two years, but that's going to change this year. The Fair board just approved increases of $1 for all admission tickets. Here's what the new prices look like:

  • Regular gate admission for those 13-64 will be $15, up from $14.
  • Children 5-12 and seniors 65 and over will pay $13, up from $12.

Kids 4 and under are always free, as the State Fair website notes. But there is a way to save yourself some money, though. You can still buy your pre-fair admission tickets at the 2018 price... if you buy them by the end of this month. (And, buying your tickets ahead of time always saves you a couple of bucks, anyway.)

That's because the new, increased prices won't take effect until February 1st, 2019. You can buy them online on the State Fair's website, HERE. If you buy right now, it'll run you just $11 a ticket, which increases to $12 on February 1st. (So, if you bought a pair of tickets now, you'd save $8-- which is enough to buy you a Mini Donut Beer!) The Fair also notes that there might be a few other ways to get into this year's event at a discount:

Tickets available online are valid for regular fair-time admission on any day of the 2019 Minnesota State Fair, Aug. 22-Sept. 2. Admission discounts may be available at the entrance gates on several discount days throughout the fair’s run; admission pricing may be less expensive if you purchase admission during the fair at the entrance gates.
