Oronoco Family Loses House to Fast Moving Fire
Oronoco, MN (KROC AM News) - An Oronoco family is starting the new year with a search for a new place to live after losing its house to a fire Tuesday night.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says the fire was reported at 6:30 p.m.
The house - located at 522 Zumbro Hills Dr SW - is owned by Bernard Caballaro. The family was at a girls basketball game in Pine Island at the time.
The house was engulfed when crews arrived. Oronoco firefighters were assisted by crews from Pine Island, Mazeppa and Rochester. It took firefighters some time to get the blaze out as they also had to deal with wind chill temperatures that were around 20 below zero.
Nothing suspicious was found and the cause is under investigation.
The preliminary loss was put at $400,000.
