Places come and they go. Lately in Rochester, it seems more businesses are closing these days than they're opening, but that's just the way it is sometimes. But if you're looking for a piece of history, you're up for a little road trip to the cities, and most importantly a cold beer, then this place should be added onto your bucket list.

One of my favorite things to do with my wife when we're out of Rochester is check out the local bar scenes across Minnesota. In fact, we were just in Stillwater for a friends wedding two weeks ago and had a blast at a couple bars called Mad Capper, Pub 112 and Charlie's Irish Pub. Each had their own unique flare and personality to them and we had a blast. In fact, we learned Charlie's had been around since 1890! That's a lot of cool history.

But there's a bar even older than Charlies that's located in North St. Paul called Neumann's Bar. According to Only in Your State, this bar has been around since 1887. Having survived Prohibition, the downstairs bar served near-beer, while a speakeasy thrived upstairs.

It's wall's are sprinkled with a ton of history, and they've been serving up burgers and breakfast since forever... and the best part in my opinion? As one of the first bars to do it in Minnesota, they still pour an icy cold pint of the local Hamm's beer straight from the tap!

The next time Danielle and I are visiting our friends in St. Paul, you can bet we'll pony-up to one of the oldest bar in the state for an ice cold brew, and admire an operating piece of history.
