Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says a man wanted in connection with an assault on Sunday is well-known to authorities in southeastern Minnesota and was already being sought on several arrest warrants.

A spokesman says deputies responded to a report of an assault at a rural property in Pleasant Grove Township just before noon yesterday just as a man driving a pickup truck was speeding out of the driveway. The deputies started to chase the vehicle but broke off the pursuit a short time later due to safety concerns.

After returning to the site of the reported assault, the deputies were able to determine the driver of the pickup was 35-year-old James Minter. Among the warrants issued for his arrest in the region and two posted by the Olmsted County Attorney’s Office for a probation violation and a vehicle theft charges.

Officials say the pickup driven by Minter was located later in the day. It had been reported stolen in Waseca County earlier this month.
