Northern Invasion Snapshot – Get to Know Rival Sons

With the line-up announcement to Northern Invasion 2017 this past Monday you may have noticed some acts that you're not familiar with. Let's take a deeper look, shall we? VIDEO + EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS

One of the reasons I enjoy music festivals like Northern Invasion is because for the most part, the organizers do try to build a good mix of rock acts, some new and on the way up, some well known and well established, some legendary, and some just willing to be part of a stellar mix that will be talked about for a long time.

I'm not sure where Rival Sons fit in the broad spectrum I listed above, but I will tell you this.....they freaking ROCK, and they're built for a big stage! They have many of those BIG STAGES on their resume, including Download Festival, Rock Am Ring, and many more.

Black Sabbath seemed to think so, too! The Long Beach, California based band opened for Black Sabbath on the entire 2016 'The End' farewell world tour, which
introduced them to audiences all thru the US, and all over the world.

You'll have plenty of time to check out some of their music before Northern Invasion, but for now, check out a few videos below!

To simplify; powerhouse vocals by front man Jay Buchanan, and killer lead guitar & slide guitar by Scott Holiday. Buchanan's vocal styling reminded me of Ian Astbury of The Cult, meshed with a dash of a Jim Morrison mixed in.
