Last week we found out the Apache Mall was under new ownership, and tho I tried, I did not get a response from the new owners about their plans. I asked 'em about folks in Rochester hoping for a water park (which is why I made the picture up there).

I heard back, so it's time for an update. What are the plans for Apache Mall? Here are the questions I sent 'em, and the replies from Lindsay Kahn, Senior Manager of Public Relations | Marketing Retail.

What should Rochester MN knw about Brookfield Properties Retail?

Brookfield Property Partners is one of the world’s largest commercial real estate companies, with approximately $90 billion in total assets.

Any changes planned?

There are no changes to Apache Mall.

Many people talk about hoping for a water park as part of the mall, any chance that’ll happen?

There is not a water park planned at this time.

Dangit...so scratch the picture. It ain't happening.

Rochester folks are concerned with the amount of store closures, is there a plan in place to remedy that?

There are always changes in the shopping center industry. It is an exciting part of the business. We are constantly evolving and looking to bring in new and even untraditional uses to the center will resonate with today’s consumer.

Fitness is a great example. We are excited to introduce the first Orange Theory to the market which will be opening near Scheels at Apache Mall this winter.

We’ve also recently welcomed new dining options in our food court with the addition of The Compadres and Yihi Japan. A new (shoe store) will be opening (soon). We will be sure to keep you abreast on new developments and openings as we are able.

If I hear more, I'll let you know!
