New Housing Development For Single Moms in Rochester

Coming soon to Rochester, two acres of property completely designated for single mothers and their children. Here are all the details. 

Minneapolis-based Jeremiah Program offers "one of the nation’s most successful strategies for transforming families from poverty to prosperity two generations at a time." And soon, there will be a Rochester campus north of Lourdes High School.

The two acres of land near the intersection of 19th Street Northwest and Valleyhigh Drive will be used to provide housing and other facilities for approximately 40 single mothers and their children. According to the Post Bulletin, a 10 million dollar campus will be built on the land donated by Rochester philanthropists Jack and Mary Ann Remick.

Jeremiah Program will be on track to start enrolling participants in a year, with a groundbreaking planned for 2019.

The program requires participants to go through an empowerment program, which prepares young mothers for the responsibilities required to be successful.
