Halloween will be here before you know it and if you watch one horror movie this fall, make it one of these...or all of them, if you want. Fall is my favorite time of year. Sure, you can watch a good horror movie anytime of the year and I usually do but there's something about watching one closer to Halloween that makes it a little creepier.

Below, I put together a lost of my top 5 favorite horror movies. If you've got one to add to the list, by all means, share it with me.

  • Halloween - The original (1978)

This is one of my favorites for many reasons. The main one being that the killer (Michael Myers) doesn't run to get to his victims. He just has a creepy walk. He WALKS and is still able to catch his victim. Not to mention that creepy ass music. That always scared the crap out of me as a kid. (Fun fact: The mask used in the original movie is actually a mask of Captain Kirk from Star Trek. True story. Look it up)

  • The Blair With Project - The Original (1999)

Back in 1999, I was working for a rock radio station and we took a few listeners to the premier of The Blair With Project. The producers had convinced many people that the movie was a true story with real footage. It freaked a lot of people out. The thing I like about this movie is that the "creep factor" is very high with this one. there's no blood and guts. Just a lot of weird, creepy things happening to the kids filming.

  • Halloween II - The Original (1981)

Again with the slow walk! I think the fact that he doesn't talk or make much sound makes him a little creepier too.

  • Salem's Lot - The Original (1979)

I've watched this a few times. The one part that really creeps me out is the vampires floating outside the window. Well, that and David Soul's hair.

  • The Exorcist - The Original (1973)

It takes this one a while to get going (for me anyway) but once it does, there's plenty of creepy sh*t happening. Like when Regan does the crab walk down the stairs. HOLY CRAP that gave me the willies. Originally, It was a deleted scene that was later put in the DVD release. I guess it was too horrifying to have aired it back in 1973.
