Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Police Dept. is once again sounding the alarm about mail thieves.  

Police say mail theft has become a growing problem around the country and many of the thieves are drug users.

Two Rochester women apprehended early Tuesday as suspected mail thieves also had evidence of drug use.  

Arrested were 27-year-old Daniela Gresser and 31-year-old Danielle Strike.

A resident called 911 around 11:45 PM Monday to report seeing someone going through mailboxes in front of his home in the 3400 block of Lake St NW, near Cascade Lake. Officers later located the car the man had described and found stolen mail in the vehicle, which was being driven by Gresser.

Officers were then sent to the Country Club Manor Kwik Trip store where employees reported a woman who was acting strangely. The woman was Strike but she was gone when they got there. Officers found stolen mail in some of the trash cans at the store and later located Strike and arrested her.

Besides the stolen mail, officers also discovered three stolen garden Gnome statues
