You've heard that saying about there being only two real seasons here in Minnesota (winter and road construction), right? Well, MnDOT is out to prove that saying true later today.

Even though we're all still digging out from yesterday's winter storm (which, depending on where you're located, might have dumped anywhere from 6 to 10 inches of snow on you), MnDOT is already gearing up for the 2018 road construction season here in the Bold North.

So, yeah, there are your two classic Minnesota seasons right there. Winter? Meet road construction!

In fairness to the gang at MnDOT though, it's not like it's all that early in the year. I mean, come on, it's April 4th. The Twins' 2018 Home Opener is tomorrow. It's entirely right that we should be thinking of warmer weather and all the things that come with it.

One of which, of course, is road construction. And, for the first time, MnDOT, Olmsted County and the city of Rochester are all holding an open house later today to discuss this year's upcoming road construction projects.

This MnDOT release says it'll happen later today, during a special open house from 4 to 6 p.m. in room 104 at Government Center in downtown Rochester. It's designed to get all three parties who could disrupt your summer commute and travel plans with massive construction projects, together in one place to talk about them.

Which, if you ask me, is a good idea. I'm wondering, though, just which big projects are on the docket for this summer, and how disruptive ARE they?! Is there something so big (like the Highway-52 project of 11 years ago) they had to plan this special open house to unveil it?!? (Okay, I'm being melodramatic here, but still.)

Either way, though, it does prove that there really ARE only two seasons in Minnesota, right?!?
