Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Austin man has been sentenced to five years on probation for his conviction on felony charges connected to a police chase last April during which he was shot by an Austin police officer.

26-year-old Edgar Rodriguez earlier pleaded guilty to felony counts of first-degree damage to property and fleeing a peace officer. Austin police say he were shot and suffered a gunshot wound to his right hand after he was cornered by police and responded by ramming into a squad car. Moments earlier, he was being pursued through residential neighborhoods at speeds around 70 miles per hour.

While on probation, Rodriguez will be required to perform 75 hours of community work service.
