Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Goodhue County Sheriff’s deputy was discharged from the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Red Wing today to continue his recovery at home.

A statement issued by the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Department Thursday afternoon identified the injured law officer as Sergeant Jason Johnson. Officials say he was attempting to serve 40-year-old Salvatore Stella with a court order at the man’s residence in Red Wing when he was assaulted. Sergeant Johnson’s injuries were described as significant, but not life-threatening.

Stella, who is expected to face felony assault and other charges, remains in the Goodhue County Jail.
