Godsmack have released the title track off their upcoming album When Legends Rise. The track follows the efforts first single “Bulletproof."

The track begins with a tribal beat before the intro guitar riff enters. It builds to a peak before the band comes in with a super heavy chord progression. Frontman Sully Erna shines on the track blending some melodic vocals with his signature growls. Listen to the track above.

Godsmack’s more melodic sound on their new album should not come as a surprise to fans. Last year Erna said the music has a “more commercial aspect.” He added, “There’s some stuff in there that definitely will service the core fanbase of Godsmack. But we also felt that it’s time to expand a little bit.”

Erna recently told us writing the title track helped define their new album, “I kind of struggled to find the content about the new direction I’m gonna write in, but when I wrote ‘Legends’ it really became the theme that runs through this record.” He added, “The music on this album is a reflection of where we’re at in our lives.”

Godsmack will release When Legends Rise on April 27. It is available for pre-order here. The effort has already spawned the single “Bulletproof” and its accompanying hilarious cameo-laden video.

The metal veterans will head out on a co-headlining tour with Shinedown on July 22 in Clarkston, Mich. Check out all their tour dates here.
