It wasn't too long ago we told you about the new MN DNR bear tracker webpage. It's for people to report seeing a bear out of their normal range of Northern Minnesota. Well, you've been keeping those eyes peeled and now it seems we had a spotting near Montgomery earlier this month!

According to the MN DNR bear tracking website a bear was sighted on May 1st SE of Montgomery. The lone bear was spotted walking in a field south of Montgomery, near the intersection of Highway 99 and County Road 3.

DNR Wildlife Resource Biologist Andrew Tri, in a New Prague Times article, was quoted as saying that the Faribault couple who spotted the bear was "very surprised". The couple was on their way to a funeral when they looked at a field while driving and saw the solitary bear ambling along. Tri also felt that the bear was most likely "a male black bear."

The bear is just one of at least five bear sightings reported in Le Sueur, Scott, and Dakota counties since May 1.
