While it's not another new building, there'll soon be a new owner for a familiar landmark located right in the heart of downtown Rochester. So just who bought what-- and what might be changing downtown?

Well, according to this KTTC-TV story, the building we're talking about here is the Wells Fargo Bank building, along 1st Street on the Peace Plaza in downtown Rochester. It was just sold to developers from the Twin Cities.

The story says Ryan Companies signed a purchase agreement late last week to take ownership of the big glass-paneled building that looks down on the Peace Plaza. And, the story says, that location made it attractive to developers.

"The structure is at a prime location connected by skyway to the Kahler Grand Hotel and the Shops at University Square.  It also is joined to the Center Street Parking Ramp, making for easy access for business customers," the story noted. Wells Fargo will continue to be located in the building, leasing space from the new owners, the story said.

So what else might be coming to downtown? Well, that part is still a mystery. While the story quoted a Wells Fargo official as saying they were "excited about this redevelopment project and the opportunities it will bring to downtown Rochester,” developers did not say what its plans for the building are moving forward.
