Undated  (KROC AM News) - The temperature at the Rochester airport fell below zero around 6 p.m. Saturday and may not get above zero until Monday afternoon.  

For the second straight day, it was a bitterly cold morning across Minnesota Monday as numerous northern cities had overnight lows in the minus 20’s and 30’s again.

The coldest readings were in northeast Minnesota where the town of Cotton reported a low of -36 and Embarrass fell to -34 degrees. Minus teens were common across southern Minnesota.

Rochester’s morning low Sunday was around -14 but it fell to 17 below at midnight and reached 20 below early Monday morning. That’s the coldest temperature recorded at the Rochester airport since Jan 6, 2014 when it fell to -23 degrees.  Wind chill readings Monday morning were between 20 and 30 below zero.

Somewhat warmer weather is expected by the end of the week.
