Blueberry Beer Interrupts Afternoon Travel

If you haven't had the newest Grain Belt beer, which is blueberry flavored, a whole bunch spilled in Olmsted County Wednesday afternoon. The semi was driving around a curved ramp and the truck tipped over spilling its load. The driver of the semi, 59-year-old Jeffrey Olson, of New Ulm, suffered a minor injury and wasn’t transported.

According to KAAL-TV , around 7:30 a.m. a semi carrying 44,000 pounds of Grain Belt Blueberry Beer tipped over on the exit ramp of Highway 52 and Highway 14 East.

Authorities said the driver was going around 20-25 miles per hour on the curved ramp when the driver thought that the load shifted making the trailer tip over.

The beer was introduced in 2014 at the Minnesota State Fair and quickly ran out. According to the Grain Belt website the beer is described as "combining Grain Belt Premium with a generous load of real blueberries. It would be a mistake, however, to associate the beer with a sweet, syrupy blueberry pie dessert. On the contrary, Grain Belt Blu is light, balanced, and refreshing—a delightfully subtle twist on the classic American lager."

What a waste of beer!
