I’ve been a Minnesota resident since 2012, but I was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In my early-to-mid-20s, downtown was the place to be on the weekends. Overall, Grand Forks is a pretty quiet town, so the only crazy things I remember seeing were a sea of bedazzled jeans and the occasional bro fights that were broken up in a matter of seconds. Nothing too wild.

So it definitely caught my attention when I saw that some idiot from Crookston, Minnesota lit a firework inside a downtown bar I used to frequent quite a bit back in the day. To give you an indication of just how dumb this was, The Loft is on the second floor of a downtown building with a long stretch of large glass windows facing the street. Obviously, the perfect place to shoot off a firework! Great idea, brah! Well, you know, if you ignore the fact that several people ended up being injured due to glass shards flying everywhere after the explosion. I can’t imagine how chaotic the place must have been after that happened. The bar itself is pretty large and typically packed on the weekends, so it’s a minor miracle that more people weren’t hurt. My experience as a former North Dakota resident tells me that alcohol was likely a major factor. Lots and lots of alcohol.

This dude is also apparently only 20 years old, so way to fly under the radar, guy. “I can’t believe my fake ID worked! Better launch a firework now! That'll help me blend in even more!”

Like, if you’re going to do something stupid, at least be smart about it. Geez.

FUN BONUS FACT: I was at this bar years ago when Coolio performed there for some reason. This is me Tebowing on stage. All of that makes this picture be outdated for so many reasons.
