My voice is still raw, and my boots still smell like they were soaked in beer.

If you've been there already, you know what those two things are a sign of. It means I went to North Star Bar (for the first time, I might add!) on Saturday night with some friends with watch Fall Risk.

You might've seen them before as part of ZROCKChester back in January.

Over the weekend, they were celebrating some new ("Better Off" for example) and old tunes (plenty of awesome Green Day and Rancid covers) with tons of their own friends too. You could've called it "pop-punk" night at North Star, although Jailhouse Payback reminded us that Rochester still loves its country too. MM Jr. rocked plenty of pop-punk tunes too.

A beer spill on the dance floor (it happened after MM Jr.) was an actual potential fall risk, but it was cleaned up quickly just in time for the band to take the stage.

This was truly one of the best (and most fun) nights of local music I've experienced since coming to Rochester! Because I strongly believe that, I'm going to give you three reasons that you were missing out if you weren't there.

  1. All of the variety: Seriously, where else can a country band get on a bill with two pop-punk bands? This night had something for everyone.
  2. Amazing beer deals: Ummmm... $.50 Miller Lites from 7-9pm - I'll take it!
  3. You were about three seconds away from a Val rendition of "Santeria" ...but don't ask about that.

See you at North Star for more local music?
